Cassandra Newton

Chief Correctional HealthCare Administrator


Cassandra is a proud Ocala native who is currently serving as the Chief Correctional Healthcare Administrator for Correctional Health at the Marion County Jail in Ocala, FL and Sumter County Detention Center in Bushnell, FL.

She started her post-secondary education at the College of Central Florida (formerly Central Florida Community College) and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Nova Southeastern University.

During a career change in 2013, she temporarily joined the Correctional Site at the Marion County Jail. She soon realized that she enjoyed the work, the environment, and the ability of making a difference in the lives of many people. Temporary soon turned into 10+ years of service including promotions. She has also completed her certification as a National Certified Correctional Health Professional (CCHP).

As the Chief Correctional Healthcare Administrator, she uses her previous leadership experience and education to support the correctional staff by ensuring they have the training for the necessary skills and resources to provide exceptional patient care to our inmate patients.
