PRESS RELEASE: Heart of Florida Health Center Awarded Funding for Expansion

Ocala, FL, October 7, 2021 – Heart of Florida Health Center, (HFHC) was awarded $732,793 from Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), a branch of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that has been ear-marked for the Dunnellon location allowing HFHC to double the size of the clinic. “Expanding services in the Dunnellon has been a long-time strategic goal for HFHC. This funding will allow us to meet the needs of the residents of Dunnellon for primary care.” stated Jamie Ulmer, CEO 

 For the fiscal year (FY) 2021 The Biden-Harris Administration is provided funding for the American Rescue Plan – Health Center Construction and Capital Improvements (APR-Capital, C8E) the one-time funding supports construction, expansion, alteration, renovation, and other capital improvements to modify, enhance, and expand health care infrastructure. HFHC is a Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Marion County. FQHCs are community-based health care providers that receive funds from HRSA’s Health Center Program to provide primary care services to underserved area. 

This funding was provided 1,292 health centers nationally totaling almost a billion dollars. Forty-five other Florida Community Health Centers were awarded a total of $39,731,817.
