Chief Operating Officer

Maria-Torres-MHSA-CT Maria has extensive experience with FQHC facilities and disaster response. Maria served as Associate Director for Costa Salud Community Health Centers in Rincón, Puerto Rico for seven years prior to joining HFHC. During that time, she successfully served as project director for all new grants including the Facility Investment Program (2009) and Capital Improvement Program (2009), which required knowledge of project planning, oversight, operations, fiscal controls and healthcare facility operations. Maria was also instrumental in Costa Salud’s response following Hurricane Maria and the subsequent 6-month loss of power. Maria is a proven leader with a clinical background carrying a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, a Post Bachelor Certificate in Cytotechnology and a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration. She is also bilingual speaking English and Spanish. She enjoys being with her family, cooking, and her fur baby Teebo.
